Mountains
In winter, the surrounding ski resorts will delight the downhill and nordic ski lovers and snowshoeing amateur. From the train station (5-minute walk from Ifalpes), there are many buses that take you to the nearest ski resort (30 minutes to 1 hour journey).
In summer, it is easy from the city to reach hiking path and mountain cycling track. It is also a famous location for paragliders who come from all over the world to enjoy the region’s exceptional flight conditions. If you have not fear of heights you can go climbing, do a via ferrata or even some canyoning !
Lake
Swimming is the obvious sporting activity of the lake but generally it’s more to relax after a day of French lessons at Ifalpes.
A nice way to do sport and explore is to hire a paddle board or kayak for an hour or more and ride along the lake shores. If you like thrills, wake boarding, wake surfing or even water skiing are for you. It is possible to hire a boat with equipment and a driver in many places.
Sailing sports are also available, thanks to the various nautical clubs, you will be able to admire the lake from a windsurfing board, a catamaran…
Of course, let’s not forget the winding roads of the mountainous region which attract many cyclists every year.
And if you are not interested in outdoor activities but still want to do sports, you will no doubt find a place do to sport in the various fitness clubs of the city.

Highly recommended! I spent two months and now I can speak basic conversational french. Instructors really care about students learning to speak french. And they have a lot of extracurricular activities around Annecy. I am going back again this year!
