Indeed, Annecy has developed around 110 km of cycling track!
This has made it possible to secure the use of the bicycle in the city and its surroundings and thus to be able to use the bike easily to get around. To go at the grocery store, to Ifalpes, meet friends for a drink on a terrace in the old town …
Among the different tracks, there is “La Voie Verte” (the green track) : 33 km around the lake, along the beaches in an amazing landscapes!
The most athletic will also have fun of course.
Semnoz mountain is 30 minutes from Annecy and offers a downhill dirt bike track that takes you directly to the castle of Annecy ! A summer bus line that can carry bikes brings you to the summit during the summer.
If you are more a road bike type, dont worry ! The mountainous region offers many nearby mountain routes (Semnoz, Col de la Forclaz…) that will delight cyclists.
And for fans (and the simply curious), know that the Tour de France is always close by every year! You can cheer on professional cyclists in the mountain stages and enjoy the unique atmosphere!
You can rent all bike type (casual, road, dirt…) in the many rental shops available in Annecy. Highly recommended! I spent two months and now I can speak basic conversational french. Instructors really care about students learning to speak french. And they have a lot of extracurricular activities around Annecy. I am going back again this year!
