Like many cities in France, Annecy has several weekly markets spread across different neighborhoods according to the days of the week. The best known is of course the one of the old town along the rue Sainte Claire and the canal.
Culturally, the market is not just a place to shop. It is also a friendly place of exchange and conversation, with sellers but also friends and neighbors.
Take a walk from booth to booth, enjoy the atmosphere and use what you have learned in Ifalpes to discuss and ask questions to sellers.
Here are some of the different markets in Annecy:
- Old Town Market : Tuesday, Friday and Sunday morning along the rue Sainte Claire in the old town. Food only on Tuesdays but also clothes on Fridays and Sundays.
- Place des Romains : in the parking lot of the Place des Romains, this market takes place on Tuesdays from 7am to 7pm. Food only in the morning and various products all day.
- Boulevard Taine market: Saturday morning behind Berthollet high school, food market and various products.

Highly recommended! I spent two months and now I can speak basic conversational french. Instructors really care about students learning to speak french. And they have a lot of extracurricular activities around Annecy. I am going back again this year!
