Stories from persons who came to learn French

Ali AL LAHHAM, Syria

I love studying French at Ifalpes, that’s the reason why I come back every year for 2 or 3 months.

What I really like is the flexibility in the course programme. We can talk about various subjects and we always have the opportunity to express ourselves.
I’m staying with a host-family, the same host-family for the second time ! I share special moments with them and what I enjoy most is the fact that they are always here to help me progress in learning the language. We also share some activities and they’re the ones who made me discover the region!

I love Annecy and its mountains ! I’m Syrian and even if they are quite different, the French mountains remind me a lot the ones from my country.
When the weather is nice I enjoy riding my bike around the lake and in winter I usually go skiing during the weekend.

Thanks to my several stays at Ifalpes now I can say I feel at home in Annecy.

Christoph MERKLI, Switzerland

I arrived at Ifalpes 3 months ago. I started the course with the intensive programme and last month I changed to the super-intensive programme.
I had a first experience abroad in the United States where I learnt English and decided to try a similar experience in Annecy to learn French.

I chose this school because I was advised by a friend and also because the region is located near Switzerland.

I decided to stay with a host-family as I wanted to discover a French family way of life. When I arrived on the first day it was quite difficult for me as I didn’t speak one word of French.
Now my French is way better and this is also due to my host-family support and encouragement. Sometimes I do my homework with my “host-mum” and she helps me a lot my correcting my exercises and mistakes.

What I like best about Annecy is the fact that’s it’s not a huge city and thus very charming. I also enjoy the lake and all the hiking we are able to do in the region.

Jonas EIGERT, Sweden

I decided to come to Ifalpes because I love foreign languages and especially the French accent! I’m a medical student and decided to take a break during my studies.
I chose to come to Annecy because I like the Alps region and I really love the city: it’s charming, beautiful, with lots of cultural activities and different things to discover.
During my free time I like having a walk in the “vieille ville” and around the lake. I also love the French gastronomy and its tasty cheeses!
During my stay I decided to live with a host-family and I don’t regret my choice! The family is really nice and I felt at easy with them as soon as I arrived.
The advantage of staying with a host-family is that I can practice my French outside school and if I have any problem I can count on them.
I’m really happy about this experience!
